Garden State Film Festival

  • 9th Annual
  • March 31t - April 4, 2011

Annual event celebrating film in New Jersey.

The Garden State Film Festival was born in 2002 after a chance encounter in a Sea Girt, NJ Grocery store by 25 year film industry veteran Diane Raver and the well known Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli. Through his deep ties to Hollywood Mr. Pastorelli and Ms. Raver were able to bring the State of New Jersey an all encompassing event. It premiered in 2003 and was immediately deemed a huge success. Since that time, such industry notables such as Glenn Close, Frank Vincent, Batman producer Michael Uslan, Austin Pendelton, Kurtwood Smith and others have lent their support.

GSFF is an all volunteer non profit organization. Our event is held on an annual basis over a three day weekend in the spring of each year at the Paramount Theater/Convention Hall complex as well as other venues in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

MOVIE: Conference Room C
-
A normal business meeting goes horribly awry, as five corporate employees are placed in a dire situation and forced to make a terrible decision by their Board of Directors. An inescapable sense of claustrophobia transforms the conference room into a veritable viper's den, as the decision making process devolves into frank debates regarding class, race and sex...and ultimately reveals a dark side of corporate 'culture'. CONFERENCE ROOM C is a 93-minute drama told in real time.

MOVIE: High Hopes
-

Back from Jamaica, a suburban slacker (Cole Pensinger) promises his girlfriend (Stacey Giambastiani) that he is finally ready to put his weed habit behind him... just not yet. True to form, he calls his friends to smoke with him, only to lose sight of the weed. Now their desperate, yet lazy, search for weed leads them to a pimp, a drug dealer, and a hustler. Meanwhile, the guys are befuddled by a downstairs roommate (Phil Mazo) who is as crazy about exercise as they are about marijuana. With little money, so-so wit, but lots of heart, these friends may yet learn that weed is not the only purpose in life... though it may just be the most satisfying one. Award-winning filmmaker Yuri Alves makes a drastic departure from his darker, dramatic work by blithely framing a colorful and humorous world within a house.
